About

María Simavilla
Represented in Spain by Pencil Ilustradores

I worked on my first illustrated book at a very early age, when I didn’t even know how to write a word. It was entitled “Pepito and the astronaut”. Since then I never stopped drawing. It is my passion, my shelter and my way of life.

Obviously, I went to the Art School and finally I graduated at the USAL Fine Arts Academy (Spain). Meanwhile, I enjoyed an Erasmus scholarship to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia (Italy).

I have been developing my work as a professional illustrator since 2010. I am convinced this work is a way to continue learning. It is always growing, the same as I am. I take each new commission as a challenge to improve myself and I am sure it works.

I am not afraid to assume new projects I have never done before. I consider myself a versatile professional. I have worked in several fields including advertising, audiovisual, children publishing, character design, text books…
